Financial Literacy Resources for Newcomers

Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL)
The CCFL is dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity across Canada with a goal to bring together government, businesses and community organizations to best serve low income and vulnerable Canadians. www.theccfl.ca

The Community Financial Literacy Initiatives Across Canada is a project of the CCFL to map the financial literacy programs and services available through community agencies and non-profit organizations specifically for low-income and vulnerable populations. The map will include networks or collaboratives with associated mandates.

Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE)
The CFEE is a national non-profit producing resources, workshops and strategic planning/advisory services to promote and assist the enhanced economic capability of Canadians through a variety of programs. Offers online tools/calculators. www.cfee.org

Ottawa Community Loan Fund - Newcomer Finances Toolkit
A toolkit to help practitioners working with newcomer families to address financial topics includes:

  • For Practitioners/Organizations:
    • Instructor’s Manual to assist newcomers to integrate into the financial system in Canada
    • Summit Guide to help bring together people working in financial literacy in their community
